Gorillapods, GoPro's & Hunting

There’s nothing quite like the thrill of taking down your first turkey or possibly even a moose. Whatever it may be a lot of hunters are moving towards the idea of filming their own hunts to show friends, family and even YouTube. With the simple addition of one of Joby's various "Gorillapods" you can easily do that.

My turkey setup consists of a Gorillapod Focus X with a GoPro Hero 3 mounted to the front of my blind that I remotely start via the GoPro remote or my iPhone. Some days I'll take a lower profile pod such as the original and put it right in next to my decoys for some close-up action. So if you’re out on your own and you want to film your own hunt there are endless options with these nifty tripods.

I have successfully mounted cameras to my blind, trees over water etc for a variety of angles. One of my favourite features of the pods is how they easily flatten down and pack away, the tripod section of my bag holds 2-3 with ball heads which is enough for any outing. With the Focus X series (high end) the ballhead includes a rugged plate that you can leave attached to your GoPro, Contour Cam etc for easy and quick setup in the dark.

Here is a quick timelapse created with the setup described above as well.
